The relationship between dancers, their clothing, and the environment they dance in is often a triad of elements that affect each other. It creates comfort in both the viewer and the performer. But what happens when you take two of those aspects, clothing and environment, and turn them unconventional?
This work examines what happens when a dancer is put in an outfit that most may find non-traditional or absurd, and pairing that with an environment that is unexpected. Together, these elements create a duality that morphs into a story of its own. Drawing on inspiration from the Triadic Ballet and Bauhaus Dance Movement, the work indirectly creates obscurity without promoting ambiguity.
The underlying element of the work happens between the relationship of movement, incongruity, and the absurd. That relationship questions the normality of performance and comfort in a performer. Together, every element comes together to form an experimental final sequence of shots.
